Amare Snowden

Amare is an intriguing 2-way OF/LHP with a great body that has a ton of projection along with being a very good athlete. Long and lean body with room to really fill out with quality strength as he matures. Profiles as a legitimate 2-way prospect. Offensively, Amare projects to have some real pull side loft power. Lacks ideal strength presently which causes him to try to cheat to find some power creating a hand wrap load that leads to some length in an out & around path. Pull oriented with long levers but leverage in path with some whip in the swing & comes off barrel with some backspin to carry. Swing works, just needs some minor mechanical adjustments and physical development to allow him to handle the bat with more authority. Runs well for age (7.2 60) with long strides, should continue to improve with added strength and projects to be an average to step above average runner. Moves easily in corner OF, sort of glides. Catches everything he should and an accurate arm that should be close to average as he matures. On the mound, Amare does a nice job of utilizing his athleticism to make quick adjustments and keep his long limbs in sync. Uses an abbreviated windup with a slight cross fire delivery that helps create some moderate deception. Arm works cleanly with an abbreviated arm stroke. No wrap and hides the ball pretty well. FB (76-79) shows small cut finish and keeps it around the zone. Plenty more velo to come with added development. Very few SL’s (67) but does flash the ability to spin the ball. Works fast and pounds the strike zone, unafraid to challenge hitters and stuff should continue to tick upwards as he matures and gets more innings. Intriguing 2-way guy with a lot of upside and projection remaining. Should definitely garner JUCO and D2/D3 interest with a possibility of developing into a D1 caliber recruit target.
