POSITION
Evaluation
Romello is an athletically built middle infielder with some raw infield tools that need to be refined and a guy that seems to bring a lot of energy to the game. Good frame to continue adding some strength, has athleticism and just learning how to translate it to the baseball field. Offensively Romello shows quality bat to ball skills despite a very high maintenance swing. Starts wide open and incorporates a huge leg kick to get started tho he does do a very nice job of creating some weight transfer and getting hands loaded into a good launch position. Has some looseness in swing with a good path thru zone and some feel to manipulate barrel. Adjustments needed to keep him from spinning off the ball which can be corrected by getting his lower half more involved and adding strength in core & lower half. Like the path and extension thru the zone with chance to grow into some authority with added physical development. Defensively Romello shows some proper infield actions with good life in his body. Moves well in all directions and shows body control and some softness in his hands. Ball sticks in the glove well. Gets ball in the air quickly and accurately but does throw from a low slot which really limits carry on throws, arm strength will likely be short for the left side of the infield but should work at 2B. Not a great runner (7.65 60) tho still should be able to improve to the low 7’s to be playable speed and not a liability by any means. Shows some usable tools on both sides of the ball and brings a good energy to the game. Would recommend any smaller schools keep an eye on him over the next couple springs.
